Selecting similar quantities of contrasting cask types - nine first-fill European sherry seasoned oak hogsheads, eight ex-bourbon hogsheads, and nine refill hogsheads - gives the November 2019 Release of Highland Park 21 Year Old single malt whisky an impressively rounded and unique flavour. The Highland Park 54 Year Old is an ultra-rare single malt Scotch whisky, first released in 2023 to celebrate the distillery's 225th anniversary, and is the oldest bottling from the brand to date. Distilled in 1968, it spent decades aging in refill casks before a final 14-year maturation in first-fill sherry casks, resulting in intense flavours of sweet exotic fruits, warm spices, floral notes, and a lingering heathery peat smoke.
