The Aotea by Seifried Syrah was blended from a small parcel of fruit from the Brightwater vineyard. The parcel was fermented separately and had an extended period in oak barriques. The wine is rich, warm and opulent with supple dark berry flavours complemented with warm cinnamon and hints of freshly ground black pepper. Layers of ripe flavours linger on the palate leaving a lasting impression.

Spicy at first with leather notes. It develops blackcurrant and toasted aromas. Full bodied, smooth tannins, a crisp acidity.

As is Askerne's style, the fruit was aged in oak to accentuate the savoury notes and introduce aromas of vanilla and toast. The palate is especially vibrant with a line of acidity knitting the fleshiness and structural components together. Excellent concentration and vibrancy with a long finish.

Crimson is our selection of fruit from younger parcels of vines from our various vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace. In their youth, vines tend to be more fruit expressive, gaining more complexity with time. Now, Crimson is developing more depth of flavour, with a mix of vines aged from 5 to 20 years.
